The BIG Leap!!

I remember walking down the steps to Harry the janitor's room(that's another story for later) with Bob and saying 15 down and 15 to go, or so I thought,  That 15 turned into twenty.  Now the time is here and not near.  I started a daily countdown after that trip down those steps at Conover.  You know 14 years and 180 days to go.   I am hanging it up, tossing in the eraser, trashing the chalk(not really we don't use chalk anymore, Smartboards took that out of our hands) no more sweatsuits and looking for the door.  The count is at 40.  The date is Feb. 29 , thats right leap day.   One giant leap into the world of the unemployed,  fixed income and all that crap old people say.
I've been looking forward to this day for so long I really can't believe it is actually  going to happen ( and neither can my wife).   Sleeping in till past 5:45 , not having a 45 minute bladder schedule, no more freaking noon duty(you all know the P.E. teacher always gets that duty),no more having to defend what you are teaching to the idiot parents that know it all.   Lesson plans will be from now on  referred to as "honeydew" lists (behavior objectives not necessary). These 40 days will not come soon enough.
Went to the "Palace" last week and every thing is set except choosing a health plan.  That to will be another blog.  So stay tuned and we will see how this retirement thing goes.
